I’ve always kept sketchbooks and painted and made collages, but took a break while I was working in performance and graphic design during the 1990s. Since 2013, I’ve revived my fine art practice and am very inspired – mainly by Surrealism and ideas around the links between art, science and nature. I’m obsessed with the hybrid creature – the half-human half-animal shape-shifter – a universal figure in so many world stories… I’m currently exploring ideas of home, genius loci and belonging within the landscape.

My recent work often combines elements of collage with paint techniques. I’ve been working a lot with watercolour and graphite as I love the freedom of these mediums. The themes I’ve been working with and keep returning to are Shamanism and Shapeshifters; Dreaming; Microcosm and Macrocosm; Land and Sea; Mothman; The Ghosts of Glamour; Illuminated manuscripts.
